Venice Plunge

Kinney's first beach bathhouse was the small Surf Bathhouse. It didn't have a pool. People, who came to the beach, usually rented woolen bathing suits and changed clothes here. - 1905

Kinney's Surf Bathhouse was incorporated into this large brick building with a steel girder roof. It contained a 150 x 100 foot swimming pool filled with warm salt water. It was used daily by thousands of beach visitors and also for swimming races and water polo matches. - 1908

Venice Plunge bathers, mostly older people, gathered around the pool's hot salt water fountain located at the shallow end. - 1908
