Sweden Pavilion"Creative Sweden," the pavilion's theme, was sponsored by the country's leading industries. It had three main sections; a large "Hall of Industry" featuring exhibits of Swedish technology and products, a miniature branch of Sweden's largest department store (Nordiska Kompaniet) and a restaurant specializing in authentic Swedish smorgasbord (40 dishes).In the industrial section a special ceiling display simulated the Northern Lights. Below were many exhibits that showed fascinating mechanical or electrical devices. There was a demonstration of high voltage electricity, a mammoth movable-pitch ship propeller operating in a pool, a high speed machine that filled toothpaste tubes, and a model of Sweden's new super-secret fighter plane, the Viggen. |
