Steel Pavilion

The Steel Pavilion was sponsored by four of Canada's largest steel producers. The sights and sounds of the exciting world of steel making were realistically recreated in this pavilion nearly ten stories high. After a realistic tour of a large steel mill, visitors were invited into the pavilion's 350 seat theater to see a film that showed how man had learned to control the basic elements of his world.

Visitors watched the transformation of iron ore from the ground into steel. And they watched the dramatic moment when the molten steel was poured from a massive ladle into ingot molds. Later the steel passed red hot through rolling mills that shaped it into man's needs. Animated models, film, photographs and colorful diagrams were used to tell the tale.
